The era of the 30 percent app store cut has ended.
[Google] tried unsuccessfully to have the verdict reversed, but then Epic came to the rescue. In late 2025, the companies announced a settlement that skipped many of the court’s orders.
Epic leadership professed interest in leveling the playing field for all developers on Android’s platform. But US District Judge James Donato expressed skepticism of the settlement in January, noting that it may be a “sweetheart deal” that benefited Epic more than other developers. The specifics of the arrangement were not fully disclosed, but it included lower Play Store fees, cross-licensing, attorneys’ fees, and other partnership offers.
The best option for people in other countries that believe in freedom and justice (in the true sense, not in the American polemical sense) is to get rid of all American platforms. At least in tech, there isn’t a single major US platform that’s not involved in open criminality (and even crimes against humanity) and/or have an outright malicious attitude towards customers.
Another option would be full white-labeling with transfer of regional IP (copyright, trademarks, patent - everything) and any key operational infrastructure. Essentially, the US HQ would have zero control over of the platform and would get a small fee and that’s it.
One small step forward, under the shadow of Google’s looming threat to crack down on the concept of self-ownership of any device with that cute little robot logo. For independent developers still publishing on the Play Store, this is, for the moment, better than nothing.
The settlement affirms that developers in the Play Store will be able to steer users to other forms of payment. This is what got Fortnite pulled from the Play Store (and Apple App Store) back in 2020. When developers choose to use Google’s billing platform, they’ll pay lower fees as well.

Everyone made it in the slow cooker! Haha yeah it’s that recipe but better. Very tasty!
Oh I still use the slow cooker, but it’s a versatile soup!
So basically, I will be away from home for several weeks. Unfortunately, this became the perfect time for our home router to start acting out and factory resetting itself. We are awaiting a new router for replacement, but the time is tight.
My stuff is ethernetted in, so that connectivity isn’t an issue - the issue is that I couldn’t actually connect to the router to restore services even if it had internet by fixing all the settings including port forwarding.
What I would like would be the ability to have a VPN connected to my homelab, so I can hop on the router and restore the settings if this issue happens while I’m away. Any ideas?
To delegate the responsibility of securing login data. You can also use an external OIDC provider.
Thank you, I set this up and it works 🙂
We knew it was goose egg season but hadn’t found their nest. This morning it was visible. 7 eggs. Probably less than a week old.
I’m going to have to change dinner plans this week now that I have gose eggs available.
Goose egg facts:
Three times the size of a chicken egg.
Chicken eggs are 30% yolk.
Goose eggs are 50% yolk.
That means the yolk is the size of 1.5 chicken eggs.
This makes them perfect for dippy yolks with fresh baked bread.
Boil time for a firm white and liquid yolk is one minute per ounce, so probably 6 to 7 minutes. Have an ice bath ready when you take them out of the water because they will continue to cook until you open them up.
They are great for baking. But not ideal for omelets because of the higher yolk content.
You get about one egg per female goose every other day. We have three females. So we will have about 10 eggs per week until they stop just before summer.
If a snake gets to a goose egg before we do that snake probably won’t have to eat for a month.
Time to make some crusty bread, buy some salted butter, and I crazy. Maybe some anchovies too. Anchovy butter on crusty bread dipped in goose yolk is very tasty.
You just can’t hide cedar eggs from a three legged dog!
Yeah. I’m hopeful that they build the nest inside their coop or outside of the fenced in portion of the yard.
The regime truly forced the Paramount deal to succeed because they want to control it. As much US media under th Ellison family as possible.
Independent journalists are the way to go now; actually they have been for the past few years, but now, seriously.
You never know who’s gonna get their hands on YouTube one day; make sure you follow these guys some other way so they you don’t miss them if they get shadow banned like leftist critics did on on TikTok
Replaced a ceiling mounted one that made the plasterboard vibrate with an inline fan. The inline fan is up in the attic and ducts through the roof. The new fan extracts 3x as much air and is much quieter.
Still need to make good the ceiling, but that’s tomorrow*’s job.
*Tomorrow in this case may not actually be tomorrow.
Excellent, good job!
I’ve been wondering what those are like to work on. A previous owner did similar in my kitchen and the fan always rattled. At some point I pulled down a gasket caught in the blades, so clearly they screwed up the installation. I haven’t been up there though, I hesitate to deal with the insulation.
But I want maximal acoustics in my bathroom. The world needs to know.
Personally, I didn’t stop watching The Bear after season 3, it was fine, but I just haven’t worked Season 4 into my schedule yet. Looking forward to it.
My headcanon is that he’s still Lip from Shameless. He feels like the same character to me (minus the back story for The Bear not lining up at all with Shameless).
she was a massive part if the show? the entire Christmas episode with John Mulaney, Bob Odenkirk and Sarah Paulson (“Fishes”), which as a single episode won 4 Emmys.
