Moving away from American corporate technology is a must for any society that values freedom (in the real sense, not in the polemical sense often used in the US).

Irrespective of internal US political developments, de facto support and enablement of corruption and criminality will remain an unfortunate problem with a significant part of US society.

Yeah give me an hour or two with the documentation and I could write COBOL, look out IBM stocks! Will it be elegant or even coherent COBOL? No. Will it at least not contain heaps of in-built time bombs in the form of bugs and security flaws? Also no, but I could write it. As the other commenter said, fuck with the COBOL wizards at your own peril.

Haven’t we figured out quantum computing? Surely lithography machines can now be liquidated.

Whether it works or not, warmer colors are easier to look at. I have literally all my devices shifted to warmer colors, always–not just at nighttime.

I love the idea but would never personally go back to a separate music player. The extra cost and inconvenience of having to charge and carry a separate device just doesn’t seem appealing versus sticking all my flac files on an SD card in my phone.

TBF all hate towards China is justified. I used to think they were a tolerable evil, but they’ve been using their influence help elect people like Donald Trump, propping up Russia economically during the war, commitring genocides in Xinjiang and Tibet, the hostile millitant occupation of Hong Kong, and supporting dictatorships in Iran, Cuba, Indonesia, etc.
