Sunlight kinda feels good... is there a way to have a mini-sun inside my room that I can activate at any time to obtain the "good feeling"? Takes too much energy to touch grass when depressed

Few decades back it was normal for bathroom fans to have one of these lights. Feels nice.

Well, something I feel helps me is masturbating. Not excessively, but occasionally. Just a little dopamine boost always helps. Also, you might want to get a small sage plant and smell that when you’re feeling especially down. Feeling things on your hands or face also helps. Ice, raw rice, pom-poms, damp towel.

SAD lamp but I have a wide spectrum LED grow light and some flowering plants (geraniums seem to keep going) that clicks on when I need to wake up and it does a good job too.

As others have said, you likely have S.A.D. Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Basically, what remains of our hibernation instincts kick in. They want you to eat, stay warm and hidden, while conserving energy. Unfortunately, this is not conducive to modern life!

You basically need to trick your body into accepting its summer.

  • Vitamin D helps a lot, though not always on its own.

  • Bright, full spectrum light. Normally sold as SAD daylight therapy lamps. Do not skimp on the lumens!

  • Heat. A radiant heater, matched with the Light does well. Together, they trick your brain into thinking it’s a good day to be out. Also try and avoid sustained cold, if you can. (Be VERY careful if you put a radiant heater on a timer. They can be a MAJOR fire risk, e.g. with a t-shirt too close from the night before.)

  • Good sleep hygiene. Avoid blue light etc around bedtime. Also keep a stable wake time, even if you don’t technically need to that day.

Infrared heat lamp. Like the type they use in chick houses. I remember my grandparents had one in their bathroom ceiling next to the exhaust fan in the 80’s. Damn it made getting out of the bath cozy during the winter. It was wired to a dial timer on the wall switch so it shut off automatically.

As far as the logistics, that will depend on what bits you have. And depression can muffle the pleasure signals.

But focus on pleasurable touch of your own body versus “getting off.” Like start with self-massage, even

Here’s my small collection lol, I use all of them at the same time every day cause I have very little access to sunlight and theyre used to treat my sleep disorder. Behind the smaller lamps is also a pair of light therapy glasses

Some things worth knowing: they can trigger manic episodes in folks with bipolar disorder, and won’t produce vitamin d like the sun, as they shouldn’t emit any UV, so if you have a vitamin D deficiency you’ll still need a supplement or sunlight. And you need to sit within the correct distance from them for them to work properly, it will vary depending on the lamp and a decent lamp should tell you that distance in the user guide/manual

Try not to use them too late in the day, as that can screw with your sleep- if you dont have my sleep disorder you should be okay to just go by when the sun is up or has set, as a guideline for it being too late

Carex makes the nicest ones I’ve used by far (thats what the big one in my pic is, though an older model, they have nicer ones out now). There are some other brands that make less expensive ones, but they may not be as bright or have as ideal of a light spectrum. If you have any questions feel free to ask, I’m not an expert but my condition has necessitated learning a lot about these things

Heh, – if it helps – I was operating under the assumption that a clitoris rubbed too frequently would also get stiff, from inflammation, and it’d work in any scenario. Though – admittedly – “stiffy” is often used as slang for an erection, I wasn’t making any assumptions about genitalia.

I can absolutely delete my original comment (and this one), if any of it makes you uncomfortable, regardless the reason. I can definitely see how that’d be annoying or bothersome, etc. Just let me know and I’d be more than happy to (/gen).

Some dudes in the 1940’s were working on some Gadget that would do that.

They never managed to get a sustained reaction, but I hear some good work’s being done in China on that front…
