Something new on HBO that I might actually watch! (If I was actually going to give Paramount any of my money.)
This scares me. This is why. Im a recovering comic book collector and back in my heyday I was definately a marvel over dc. Overall I prefered the writing and things that came out of marvel with some exceptions (new justice league was amazing and man when nightwing became a thing teen titans got so good). The thing is if push came to shove. My favorite thing. Really favorite superhero thing. Was green lantern. Closest you could get with marvel was doctor strange (not being similar but being my favorite marvel thing). I was so psyched for the doctor strange movie and the green lantern movie before that. They were not horrible (to me) and doctor strange was done a bit better. Both though were letdowns for what I would like to see with my favorite. I dearly hope I am collecting dvds of this and placing it near firefly and lotr on my shelf. I kind of doubt I will though. Heck I would not mind something as good as the first seasons of smallville.
If it helps statistically “Paramount Skydance” won’t own “Warner Bros. Discovery” (including HBO) by August, acquisitions of this size usually take about a year. Of course I get what you mean and I’m sure you’ll find some way to watch.
This looks DOPE.
I’m modestly interested in the show, but I’m more interested in the idea that this is how they’re going to roll out their primary Green Lantern.
In any DC cinematic universe, people want to know who the main GL is gonna be, and how it’s going to fit in. I like their take on Hal Jordon, and I like that they’re including him as a seasoned pro who likely won’t headline a movie. It looks like their going with my guy, John Stewart. And it looks like they’re going with a version who is new, but also we get to skip over origin stories.
I like all of this. I think Guy Gardner was a cool way to introduce Green Lanterns into the film universe, while also waiting before we introduce a GL who is like, a guy we like. From the little we’ve seen, the character work looks very appealing to me.
I hope Guy and Hal stick around, even if John becomes our primary Lantern. Guy is such a fun character and we don’t know a lot about Hal yet but I’m intrigued. (And obviously John, but like you said he’s our main Lantern.)
Agreed. My only gripe is that I didn’t like when he started beating the man during an interrogation. That’s a trope I’d like to generally retire, but especially as it applies to Hal Jordan.
