Not Philly Cheese Steak Soft Tacos

I had one piece of steak, an aging bell pepper, aging mushrooms, half an onion, processed American cheese slices, flour, lard, salt and baking powder, two potatoes and some peanut oil.

The solution seemed clear. Offend my Pennsylvania wife with something that wasn’t a Philly Cheese Steak.

The steak was free. Cost per person: $2.10 If I had to pay for the steam it would be closer to $5.50

The true philly cheesesteak is basically dirt and cheese wiz. It got popular because it was cheap and affordable to the locals. Just about anything will blow those away.

These look great, I would sub in a different cheese but hey, its still better than wiz.

I will not stand this Cheez Whiz slander, especially in regards to cheesesteaks.

Whiz is the slop the tourist traps use. Gotta get your cheesesteak from the hole in the wall joint to get the true good good.

I prefer provolone. But I certainly wasn’t going to waste $2 plus $3 in gas on buying any.

Fridge cleaning tacos are great. I just made tacos with leftover grilled chicken, what was left of a red onion, a jalapeño that was starting to wrinkle, and some jarred tikka masala sauce.

Didn’t feel like making bread so lady night I prepped some tortilla dough for use today. Even though I have like a pound and a half of dough sitting in the fridge.

I have some commercial Italian seasoned chicken bits. I’ve got a stack of corn tortillas. I’m thinking of making some very unconventional chicken taquitos. Maybe a bruschetta to top it with.

It’s my understanding that whiz has been used since the 50s.

Oh it has been, but I disagree with its value added to the sandwich. Longevity doesn’t mean it’s actually good.
