@julian yeah, we don't currently support a "silence" because no one really knows what that means so we're pushing towards more granular filters

@julian The easiest is to use "post via e-mail feature" in self-hosted WordPress. But who knows if it then becomes a draft... I have just the idea and I'm sharing it as such, because I fear it could cause a mess of spam.
The basic idea is, "reply via e-mail to this post", and all replies go to Fediverse as blog comments. In that case, "post by email" won't work
@julian@activitypub.space When I asked @reiver@mastodon.social last time, he said he’d make sure FediCon 2026 doesn’t overlap with COSCUP 2026, but I’m not sure how it’ll turn out.

Wow that is just brilliant. I love how the SFO *airport museum* staff just went off and figured out how to track items (and planes visiting the airport!) and everything in a low-cost scalable way that totally plugs into the Fediverse. Neat! :fediverse:
@tom @julian @astro There are some small differences in following between a relay and a regular actor. But it's essentially correct.

This all brings in a firehose, which can be a lot of data to handle, especially if you're only interested in a few topics.
Fedibuzz has solved this really nicely, by having one relay per hashtag. So an admin can add a few hashtag relays for topics of interest to their users.
@julian We apparently agree that expecting us to follow bot accounts to see hashtags is absurd. But that's how it looks to me.
Are you saying that this is under the hood stuff and we are not expected to follow bot accounts? That somehow these accounts will transparently deliver the hashtags we follow? If so, it's a huge mistake to notify users that an instantly created bot account has boosted a post.
And again, I think the bigger problem is hashtag abuse. I hope someone is working on that.
@julian @mlanger I don't actually think it's an ugly hack.
In ActivityPub world, things that you follow remotely are actors. They can be people, groups, organizations, bots, even other things like documents or places.
For following a hashtag remotely, I think it should look like any other actor on the network.
Dear #WordPress users, I want to hear your opinion!
I'm currently finishing my work on the Polls For #ActivityPub plugin.
I decided to use a custom post type for each poll. However, many people mentioned that they would like to also add polls to normal posts.
My first question is: what is the best workflow/UI for the block-editor when adding a new poll block to a normal post?
I started with an empty state: "Create new Poll, Embed existing poll". Here I was wondering, whether I should directly enforce the user to create a poll which is stored as a draft when choosing "Create new poll", or keeping all data local to the post until the post is saved/published.
And should I allow the user to edit an embedded poll inline? Or should I just link to the edit link of the poll directly, once it's created? And how many warnings about such relationships do users expect? When deleting a poll that might be embedded. Isn't it similar to media? What are your wishes?!

Ooooo, nice! I made the same thing recently, but this one uses threadiverse communities for the Usenet groups - https://piefed.social/c/piefed_meta/p/1904499/back-to-the-future-interacting-with-threadiverse-communities-through-usenet-nntp
