You’re wrong, Hamas are in fact “the good guys” in this conflict.

Wow.

Please continue to call us “tankies” for saying things like “resistance to genocide is good”. I’m not joking, you’re doing free propaganda for us “tankies”.

I made Texas style brisket in the oven since I don’t have a smoker. It was good but it didn’t exactly taste like real bbq brisket, which is something that is expected from an oven.

No you’re explaining pre/during revolution. I dont care about structure during those times.

My issue is with your support for vanguard party post revolution. A vanguard party post revolution absolutely would be a more educated elite class than a steel worker. Ive even seen you talk about the vanguard party educating the working class on the revolutionary ideas which to me just sounds like 1:1 an elite class ruling over workers with total control.

I’m talking about both before and after revolution, such as in this comment where I talk about democratic systems in post-revolutionary socialist states. This was 2 comments ago, either you forgot about it already or didn’t read it, neither of which shows any real sense of care for truth on your part.

Secondly, as I explained in my last comment, “intellectuals” are not a class. They belong to broader classes. Vanguards are indeed supposed to teach the rest of the working classes how to correctly struggle. Are you going to tell me that teachers in schools are an “elite class” too? This is just anti-intellectualism. Not everyone is going to be dedicated to studying revolutionary theory and history, not everyone is going to be a labor organizer, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have people dedicated to doing so.

Classes are social relations to production. The vanguard party and non-vanguard working class both have the same ownership over the means of production, just like your manager at whatever job you have likely isn’t an owner either.

Where are you getting all of these confused ideas about class, socialist democracy, and vanguards from? It certainly isn’t from Marx, Engels, Lenin, etc, nor is it from historical documentation.

OpenWrt & fail2ban

Hi, c/selfhosted! This is my first post on Fediverse and I am glad to be making it here.

I recently got fed up with having to using Tailscale to access my server at home and decided to expose it publicly. A friend recommended segregating the server into a dedicated VLAN. My router’s stock firmware does not allow that, so I flashed OpenWrt on it (I am amazed how simple and easy the process was).

Getting the router to actually assign an IP address to the server was quite a headache (with no prior experience using OpenWrt), but I managed to do it at the end with a help from a tutorial video on YouTube.

Now, everything is working perfectly fine and as I’d expect, except that all requests’ IP addresses are set to the router’s IP address (192.168.3.1), so I am unable to use proper rate limiting and especially fail2ban.

I was hoping someone here would have an experience with this situation and help me.

Yeah, Tailscale’s “zero-config” idea is great as long as things actually work correctly… But you immediately run into issues when you need to configure things, because Tailscale locks you out of lots of important settings that would otherwise be accessible.

For instance, the WiFi at my job blocks all outbound WireGuard connections. Meaning I can’t connect to my tailnet when I’m at work, unless I tether to my personal cell phone (which has a monthly data cap). Tailscale is built on WireGuard, and WireGuard only. If I could swap it to use OpenVPN or IKEv2 instead, I could bypass the problem entirely. But instead, I’m forced to just run an OpenVPN server at home, and connect using that instead of using Tailscale.

You might be thinking about .ml instances. dbzer0 has been one of the most open instances. I’m just disappointed at the current trend.

Both .ml instances are extremely broadly federated. Grad is defederated by more instances, but nevertheless remains federated on their end, meaning Grad accounts see pretty much everything except a few instances.

My point is that you gloss over the suffering of innocent people while excusing the actions of the respective murderers, just as people on the other side do. Namely, as a necessary and inevitable consequence of the other leaders’ actions. You argue structurally against the innocent victims using the same logic as the supporters of the IDF.

It is a reversal of perpetrator and victim to appease your own conscience. An exaggerated and thus dehumanising tribalism that draws legitimacy for crimes against innocent people from the crimes of another group of actors. It is a misanthropic and cynical logic with which any atrocity could be justified (which is, of course, done constantly around the world).

Hamas and IDF supporters are equally malicious and disgusting. The murder of innocent people is always and fundamentally wrong. Leftists must reject and fight it.

It is one thing when innocent people die in armed conflicts. That is bad enough. But it is much worse when innocent people are deliberately targeted. That is simply inexcusable and not the fault of the Netanyahu government. Hamas cannot claim to be resisting when its targets are not the groups or institutions that oppress the Palestinians. One can only come to such a conclusion if one adopts Hamas’ interpretation of who the oppressors are. Namely, all Jews or Israelis by virtue of their origin.

I do not think we can agree on this. My view of humanity is fundamentally different from yours. Discussing normative principles is pointless. However, I find your attitude so cynical and appalling that I no longer wish to engage in further debate. I very rarely do this, but I have now blocked you.

Ukraine has targeted and killed civilians in the Russia Ukraine war, so I guess you also believe that Ukraine can’t claim it’s resisting Russia? (Rhetorical question, of course, I know you apply a different standard to white people.)
