God damn. Truly, finally is the year of the linux desktop.
I don’t know if I’m just seeing more of it because I switched to Linux myself, but it certainly feels like Linux has taken a giant step toward the mainstream recently.
Linux vs macOS steam usage comparison is… kinda nonsensical, since Linux has a whole ecosystem around making windows games run smoothly on Linux, whereas macOS doesn’t - and I don’t see Apple focusing on that at any point, tbh.
Eh, it makes sense for Steam share, this data is entirely gaming users. It would be a mistake to try to relate this to overall market share though.
Apples are really, really fucking popular. It isn’t surprising they show up as a small minority on something like this. Macs have a pretty limited game library. But, if you already have a Mac and just want to play something from time to time, would make sense to install Steam and pick something up.
I doubt the Mac sales are very high per-capita though. Anyone who is into computer gaming is going Windows or Linux.
And just imagine how high it could go this year if fucking RAM prices weren’t exploding and Steam Machine/Deck/Frame could be sane
