What are some weird corners of the internet you've stumbled across?

I don’t mean gross stuff like SomethingAweful.

I’m talking someone’s fever dream neocities page that details how to make a UFO engine using element 115.

A blog that is wild conspiracy stuff that has aged like fine wine.

Or some serial forum post that makes no sense but seems too complex to be performative.

17776 is a good example, if you’re not familiar.

Yeah, I had to look up a video of the old song and now I totally remember seeing this site literally 20ish years ago.

I know it will upset people to say, but I like both songs.

Fetcharr - a human-developed Huntarr replacement

$$8948
https://lemmy.world/u/egg82 posted on Mar 8, 2026 19:01

Disclaimer: I am the developer

Long story short, after Huntarr exploded I still wanted an app that did the core of Huntarr’s job: find and fetch missing or upgradable media. I looked around for some solutions but didn’t like them for various reasons. So, I made my own.

No web UI, configured via environment variables in a similar manner to Unpackerr. It does one job and it does it (a little too) well. Even when trying a few different solutions for a few days each, Fetcharr caught a bunch of stuff they all missed almost immediately. This is likely due to the way it weights media for search.

Since you made it this far, a few notes: 1) I did still use ChatGPT on a couple of occasions. They’re documented and entirely web UI - no agents. Anything it gave me was vetted and noted in the code before publishing. 2) The current icon is temporary and LLM-generated. I’ve put out some feelers to pay an artist to create an icon. Waiting to hear back. 3) It’s written in Java because that’s the language I’m most familiar with. SSL certs in Java containers can be painful but I added some code to make it as easy as Python requests or Node 4) While it still has a skip-if-tagged-with-X feature, it doesn’t create or apply any tags. I didn’t find that portion necessary, despite other popular *arrs using it. Not sure why they do, even after developing this. 5) Caution is advised when first using it on a large media collection. It’ll very likely pick up quite a number of things initially if you weren’t on top of things beforehand. Just make sure your pipeline is set up well, or you limit the number of searches or lengthen the amount of time between searches using the environment variables.

Not sure what you mean by that. I occasionally use the web UI as the tool that it is and I’ve played around with opencode, cursor, etc previously on other home projects to get a sense for where things are and what the limits of these things are. That said, I take pride in my own work and this project is no exception. Is there something in this project that makes you think I threw a prompt into cursor and am passing that off as my own? Or are you against the idea of using an LLM and consider any person or project using them at all to be vibecoded?

That’s great! A cronjob can be effective if your indexer doesn’t mind the extra strain or you have a small library.

It includes characters like Daxter the Praying Mantis and Kiki the Lunar Moth, among others.

He is creating all the art (and he is damn good) and the dialogue, then his friends will help with the technical stuff.

Sure, it may never see the light of day, but I’m just proud he is doing something this weird.

I kinda just sat there depressed the whole time even though I should be happy. Food was good… I guess… still not good enough to stop the darkness that consumes my souls inside. I told my mom about it and she’s just like “think happy thoughts”… “I occasionally feel depressed too”… ugh she will never understand lol. She told me she loves me like at least 10+ times today… idk, I’m not exactly feeling it… I still feel the fear of being abandoned, of rejection, still fearful they’ll end up betraying me, rejecting me.

We went to a park to just kinda just chill out, take a walk… I kinda just reminicent of old times when we spend time together. Sadly I’m not a kid anymore… although I still kinda acted like a kid today… felt like a kid at heart… I still feel like my inner child is here with me, the flame of joy… sort of… but expectations are different now… future looks scary…

So she just asks me: “do you love us? (“us” as in both of them… dad was also with us)

So idk what to say… felt too vulnerable to open up…

So I just said “you’ll love me regardless, right?”

And she told me “of couse”

Why is this so awkward?

So calm just walking in the park today… like in the eye of the storm, the calm before shit happens again, chaos soon reigns again…

I feel mom will go “bipolar” mode again…

On the way back she mentioned something about inheritance and asked the “am I ready to act normal” question again, and I just feel worried again… sort of ruined the vibe I just had chillng out, walking in the park just earlier.

Just average Chinese Family dynamics… what the fuck

emotions on a rollarcoaster

speaking off I kinda wanna go on a rollarcoaster

probably less scary than family relations…

hows your day?

I don’t think some parents can accept that their kid is depressed. Some parents think if their kid is depressed it is a reflection of themselves and they failed in some way.

But there’s so many heavy, depressing external factors that young people deal with that their parents generation never dealt with. I feel like to be 24 and not at least mildly depressed (or pessimistic) means someone is in denial of reality.

I get the impression from this very small amount of information that she may not be able to fully relate to what you’re feeling. But I like that she said she occasionally feels depressed too. I’ve met people that couldn’t comprehend feeling general sadness. “You don’t have any reason to be down” kind of mentality.

You’re the only one giving me a positive answer!

I do not mind RAID, so i won’t lose data when a drive fails (the most valuable thing will be backups, which i mean, are backups, so not that critical if i can make a new one, but even losing other data would be a bit boring). I think I’d do software RAID tho, so if the controller breaks i wouldn’t have to find the same model, which could be hard for old hardware i guess.

the other comments scared me about power consumption, so i’ll have to investigate more of it.

If you’re going for software RAID, I recommend taking it a step further and go for ZFS: If set up correctly you get all the advantages of raid6, while remaining very flexible.
